The All New Swift Basecamp is the Ultimate Fun, Sporty and Stylish Compact Caravan for Active Campers

Basecamp has been designed to appeal to people engaged in outdoor pursuits including high energy, fast paced activities and camping enthusiasts seeking a more luxurious alternative to a tent or trailer tent.

The design team at Swift has created a variety of stylish and funky optional graphic schemes to choose from, all of which complement the unique exterior profile. Chunky graphite molding, along with chrome grab handles add distinct accents to create an exciting exterior appearance. Tinted double glazed windows and 14” Scorpion alloy wheels complete the sporty look.

The interior has been cleverly designed to optimise space and provide plenty of storage, even for bulky sporting equipment, with access through a wide central rear door. The front profile sweeps up to a large panoramic front window and ties through to the rear panel. Below the front window is the housing for a gas bottle and spare wheel.

Compact in size and weighing only 879Kg (MRO), the Basecamp can be towed by smaller cars and is easier to store when not in use. Swift fit their exclusive LED rear light clusters and high level brake light, so that when towed the Basecamp is clearly visible.

Utilising Swift Group’s award-winning SMART Plus construction with balanced panel sidewalls, Basecamp has a strong, well-insulated moisture proof GRP bodyshell. More impact resistant than aluminium, GRP can be easily repaired ensuring good looks for longer, to better protect your investment into the future.

Swift Command, launched last season in Swift Group's flagship ranges, brought modern technology with an 'App' interface to the leisure vehicle market. This exciting innovation is now available across Swift Group's entire Caravan and Motorhome ranges and also features in the new Basecamp, which will appeal to the tech-savvy adventurous consumer.

The Swift Command control system includes an intelligent power supply unit and a smart LCD control panel that allows viewing of enhanced control panel functions. There is also an exciting Swift Command 'App' that can be downloaded to Smartphones and Tablets which enables the user to remotely control and/or monitor certain vehicle systems either inside the vehicle using a Bluetooth interface (BLE), or away from the vehicle (providing that there is a signal or wi-fi available). Added to the system for the new season is the option to subscribe to a pro-active Thatcham Level 6 tracker.

Basecamp also comes with access to Connect Direct, Swift’s online customer service portal. Swift is the only manufacturer to have a dedicated customer service team and the Connect Direct system is additional to existing contact points.

The key benefits of Connect Direct are: access to information 24/7; ability to report faults directly to Swift; product upgrades and notifications; live chat direct into Swift's own experienced retail team; upload service history records and service history reminders.

Inside continues the funky styling. Instead of standard lockers there are removable ‘Canvas’ zipped storage bags. These can be filled on board or taken out and used as mobile ‘holdalls’ allowing quick and easy packing for last minute getaways.

The interior colour scheme continues the graphite and burnt orange theme with ‘Pareto’ soft furnishings in a warm dark grey with burnt orange patterned parquet design cushions and practical French Oak effect, high impact, scratch resistant floor lino. Hessian woodgrain has contrasting furniture matches.

Interiors make good use of all available space and the 6’5” headroom. Front parallel seating comes with a lift up coffee table and fold away dining table large enough for full size place settings. Seat bases have aluminium front bars with curved beech slats for added comfort and the seating converts to a double bed.

In addition, the the seat bases can easily be folded up and away to allow the area to be used as storage en-route. Tie down points allow secure storage of bikes or other bulky items.

There is also wardrobe storage, a side end kitchen and washroom opposite.

The kitchen area is surprisingly spacious and is fitted with graphite base units with a FENIX NTM® worktop and underslung stainless steel sink. FENIX NTM® is an innovative material that is resistant to scratches, has enhanced anti-bacterial properties and is easy to clean. Within the units are a Thetford 3 burner hob and separate grill and a Dometic 85 litre electronic ignition fridge with removable freezer compartment and black gloss finish. A clever pop up docking station in the worktop houses 3 x 230V sockets. The kitchen top storage lockers are white with positive chrome catches.

To extend the living space an optional awning can be added to the rear. It has been custom designed with Vango Airbeam® technology to fit with the sporty fun theme and provides a large additional camping space.

All Basecamp lighting is energy efficient LED including adjustable lounge spotlights. There are chrome effect sockets, switches and fixings throughout. Windows have graphite surrounds housing cassette flyscreens and blinds.

Washrooms have a FENIX NTM® vanity work top with integrated white sink and chrome vector tap, Thetford C402 toilet with electric flush and a powerful, water efficient Ecocamel showerhead. The thick washroom door has a domestic style lock for added privacy.

Reliable heating and hot water is provided by dual-fuel Whale system and the Basecamp has been cold chamber tested and approved to Grade 3 classification. These are just some of several systems that can be monitored and controlled using the Swift Command ‘App’.

Specification can be further enhanced with the Basecamp Plus Pack which adds a solar panel, TV aerial, TV bracket with travel lock, door flyscreen, external 230V mains socket, BBQ point and shower point and a separate oven.
